Sadly, as with most good things in life, there must be some bad and in the world of e-cigarettes, there is no exception.

There are a lot of things to take into account with e-cigarettes. For a start, there are a lot of different brands available so picking the right one for you is going to be a tough choice. Then you’ve got the whole bad-ecig thing to worry about. You’re going to want to avoid poor-rated e-cigarettes like SmokeTip, for example, whereas decent brands like Halo, although a tad more expensive, definitely offer the average vaper a lot more.

Another thing you’re going to need to worry about is the topic of e-cigarette scams. These are very clever little ploys designed to leave you with a very poor quality electronic cigarette to use, if at all, whilst all the while taking money out of your bank account, usually in rather large amounts. The worst thing about all of it is that you probably won’t even know this is happening to you until much later on…

Let's Take A Closer Look At E-Cig Scams!

These scams are smart. That’s the first thing you should know. They are smart because they look like an offer that is literally too good to pass up. They are a system of small, intricate lies, designed to screw you over.

It will say something like:

Want to try e-cigarettes for FREE? 

Fancy bagging yourself a FREE e-cig starter kit?

In short, it’ll say something about being FREE, FREE, FREE.

This is the first lie - it’s not going to be free. You’ll find out more in just a moment.

The gist of the idea is that the website you enter your details into will sent you out a FREE e-cig starter kit. It’ll contain everything you need to get kick-started. You won’t need to pay out for anything else… Although you might need to pay out for the shipping.

It sounds like a really good deal, doesn’t it? Everyone is raving about these e-cigarettes and personal vaporizers, and it doesn’t hurt to give it a try… After all, it is free.

Of course, you’ll zip right through the terms and conditions, lightly skimming them if at all. You enter your credit card details to pay for the shipping and handling and then you wait for that precious parcel to turn up….

Some find that their e-cigarette starter kit doesn’t even turn up at all. That’s what happened to one of the guys in our team early on in his e-cig smoking journey. In fact, most of us have fallen prey to the ecig scam at some point in our lives. It’s nothing to be ashamed of - you just need to be smarter so you don’t fall for it again.

If you do manage to get a fully working e-cigarette on your doorstep, you’ll probably find that it’ll be of very poor quality, and won’t last very long. What’s the point…? They’re going to get your money anyway!

See that’s the bit you won’t have noticed… The small print that you chose to skim past. That small print says a thousand words and most of them will cost ya!

There’s going to be something that says you need to return the e-cig starter kit within so many days. You won’t notice it because it’s in tiny writing of course, but it will be there somewhere. Probably along with another line that states when you don’t return the starter kit in that period of time (which you won’t end up doing), you’ll get charged a ridiculous amount of money.

It’s going to say something that goes a little like:

“If I don’t return the starter kit within 15 days, I agree that my card will be debited for the amount of $99.99 for the cost of the kit and it’s contents. I will also be charged $39.99 every 30 days after that for the cartridge refill program.”

If you read anything like the above, run. Run as fast as you can. Chances are, it’s a scam.

You won’t know anything is untoward for a while, of course. The money wont’ be debited for your account for a couple of weeks and by that time, you’ll just assume another bill has come out if you don’t regularly check your bank statements (like me!) Then you might notice the $40 disappearing later on for those cartridges that may or may not turn up. You can always file a dispute with your credit or debit card company, of course, but that’s going to take forever.

The reality of e-cigarette scams is that they are out there but if you agree that deals that seem to be too good to be true generally are, you will be able to avoid them. Make sure that you use a reputable and reliable brand, and always read the reviews first. Websites just like this one are designed to help you buy a better product and avoid you wasting your money on a scam or an e-cig that’s not worth the money you paid out for it.

Just keep your eyes peeled, always read the small print, and do your homework first. If you follow those simple rules, you’ll be laughing! What E-Cig Scams? ;)
