E-Cigarette Troubleshooting

Maybe you missed our suggestions what are the best e-cigarettes and things didn't really go according to the plan. TOr tere could also be a good chance that you are doing something wrong. Although the concept of the electronic cigarette is fairly simple, using it does take a bit of practice. It’s not rocket science by any means, but there are still a few things that you should be aware of. We have noticed that there isn’t a lot of information on the internet about what to do when things go wrong with your e-cigarette, so we have decided to make life easier and create a troubleshooting guide of most common problems for electronic cigarettes.

Why is my battery flashing?

If your battery is flashing, it might mean that it is faulty. Generally it will mean that you need to put it on charge. If the battery is only flashing when you are trying to puff away on it, the latter is more than likely the case.

Why does my cartridge taste so bad?

If things are starting to taste less than pleasant, it’s probably time to replace the cartridge. Usually this is a sure fire sign that the liquid within the cartridge has run out, and you therefore need to screw a new one on to the battery.

On the other hand, if you have been refilling your cartridges and you have had them for a few weeks, they could be burning out. Also, if you are finding that your cartridges are tasting poor right out of the packet, the manufacturer may have sent you a faulty batch so it might be worth getting in contact with the company that you have purchased them from to find out what you can do next.

My battery doesn’t last very long!

A lot of things will affect how long your battery will hold a charge for. If you use it a lot, as in you are constantly smoking on it, you might be killing the battery. It’s like any electronic gadget – the more you charge it, the less power it will hold. Even rechargeable batteries need replacing every once in a while.

If you fail to let the battery completely die before you start charging it, the battery itself might have “forgotten” exactly how much “juice” it can hold. This means that you need to start letting the battery completely conk out before you put it on charge again. Also, if you leave your battery on charge for too long, you could also be killing it so make sure, as soon as the little light turns green to indicate that charging has completed, you remove the battery from the charger.

I’m not getting anything from my e-cig?

If you are puffing away and not getting anywhere, you should first check the following things:

  • Is the battery charged?
  • Is the cartridge a new one?
  • Are there lights on the battery?
  • How about putting it in the charger? Does anything happen?

If nothing is happening and you have tried all that we have mentioned above, the battery could be faulty. They do need replacing every couple of months, so how long have you been using it for?

I’ve refilled my cartridge and it still tastes pretty bad. What’s wrong?

If you tried to save some money and refilled your cartridge to get rid of the bitter taste of a dry one, you might have burned out the cartridge. If you have been using the same one over and over again for a while, it can burn out.

At the same time, if you let your cartridge get COMPLETELY bone dry in between refilling it, it could also burn out. The fiber in the cartridge that holds the liquid will start to become brittle when it is dry, and this will make things taste pretty bad. If you have opened the cartridge and the fiber within it looks brown, it means that it is start to break down and it is time to order some more.

Why do I keep getting liquid in my mouth?

If you are puffing away on your electronic cigarette and liquid seems to be pouring into your mouth, you might be overfilling the cartridge. Alternatively, you might find that you are “drawing” far too much on the cigarette – either too long an in-breath, or too hard!

Take the cartridge away from the battery and wipe any liquid residue away. Once you have done this, give the middle hole of the cartridge a good blow to make sure that you are clearing any excess away.

Why am I not getting any vapor?

If you are struggling to get anything out of your electronic cigarette, there could be a number of things wrong. Firstly, check your battery. Secondly, check that your cartridge has enough liquid in it to still function properly. On top of this, make sure that there is no gunk between the cartridge and the battery – sometimes there can be a buildup and this prevents you from screwing the cartridge back on again properly. Give it a good clean with a damp (not wet) cloth, or a Q-tip.

Why does my battery cut out mid-puff?

If you take an exceptionally long inhale on your e-cig, there is a good chance that there is an automatic cut-off which prevents the battery from dying, and also the e-cig itself from overheating. This means that, after a few seconds of inhaling, it will cut out. If you are finding that this does this regularly for you, you need to take shorter puffs on your e-cig. Alternatively, it might be worth trying another model.

There are plenty of problems that can accompany an electronic cigarette, especially if you aren’t sure whether or not you are using it properly. It is well worth reading all of the instructions plus the trouble shooting guides that many brands will include in their kids to make sure that you aren’t damaging your e-cig in any way.
