SmokeTip

Rating:

To sum it up, we were quite disapointed with the product – it’s expensive, not much vapor, flavors die quickly. There are several 5-star e-cigs we have reviewed on our site. We’d highly suggest to pick one of these instead.

The website is boring, plain and old-fashioned. There are only two products available – the SmokeTip Kit and the SmokeTip Tank. You do get ‘FREE STUFF’ every time you buy though… That’s got to be worth something right?

Delving right in, we ordered the only two-piece design of e-cigarette on the website and waited patiently for it to arrive.

SmokeTip Starter Kit

At $59, it’s quite expensive but it does promise to give you ‘everything you need’ in one handy little box. Apparently all you need is a couple of batteries, 5 pre-filled cartridges, a USB charger, wall adapter and gift box. Let’s be honest about this – if you were to put the likes of SmokeTip and their $59 starter kit next to the Halo G6 starter kit as $44.99, which one could you honestly say that you’d buy?

Battery

One of the things that first strikes you when you bounce onto the SmokeTip website is that little notice that says “Batteries for life”. When you look a bit further, it’s a bit of a con really, but it promises to give you a lifetime warranty on the batteries if you let them know AND make an order of cartridge or liquid. Alternatively, you could just add a freebie battery to your order if you buy more than 10 packs of SmokeTip cartridges, or 10 bottles of e-liquid. That seems a tad high… 10? Think of how much that will end up costing you!

If you’d rather just buy a new battery (which trust me, proved to be a lot cheaper and easier), it’ll cost you $18.95 which is ridiculously high. You’ll pay less for the batteries on the bigger, better, tank-style vaporizers! Really SmokeTip, what are you playing at? This is far too costly!

The good new is that you’re not stuck with the white battery with glowing orange tip which is a good thing. With the pink battery and green tip, plus silver and black batteries with blue tips, the colored ones are a better option if you don’t want hassle when people think you’re actually smoking a real cigarette in a public place – something we all know is not allowed.

The 180mah battery *should* last for around 10 cigarettes to so but I didn’t find that it lasted quite that long. In fact, it didn’t last anywhere near that long. I was only using the first battery for about two hours on what I thought was a full charge the first time, and the most I ever got out of the battery was probably about three hours or so…. Essentially that’s only maybe five to six cigarettes worth? Perhaps even less.

I was NOT impressed with the SmokeTip battery. At all. In fact, most of the office had nothing but bad things to say about. It hardly felt like it was a well-made creation either. Bits rattled when we were using it, the cartridge went on too loosely, the battery wobbled a bit in the USB charger… Speaking of which – it takes almost longer to charge the battery than it lasts you when you’re using it. It took about an hour and a half to two hours to charge from start to finish, and I barely managed to get two or three hours usage out of it!

Cartridge Refills

After a disappointing start with the battery, we had much higher hopes for the cartridge refills, and with a vast amount of flavors, we were starting to get quite excited. There’s a whole bunch to choose from including:

  • Regular
  • Cowboy
  • Sahara
  • Menthol
  • Mild Menthol
  • Almond
  • Apple
  • Banana
  • Blueberry
  • Chocolate
  • Cherry
  • Cinnamon
  • Clove
  • Coffee
  • Grape
  • Orange
  • Peach
  • Pineapple
  • Peppermint
  • Strawberry
  • Vanilla
  • Watermelon

Plus you can get assortments too of a weird and wonderful selection! There are four strengths available too ranging from 0mg (zero strength) through to their strongest, 16mg, with 12mg and 6mg in between.

A pack of ten cartridges is $19.95 which actually isn’t a bad price, and as with most brands, the more you buy, the more you can save. You’ll also get free stuff after when you buy so many packs too – three ten-packs will bag you a new battery, six ten-packs will get you a freebie battery plus USB and wall charger, and if you buy a whopping ten ten-packs at once, you’ll get a FREE starter kit at 16mg.

Each cartridge is said to be the equivalent of about 25 cigarettes but I don’t think this is quite the case. In fact, I found myself going through at least two or three cartridges on a daily basis, suggesting that they are only worth about 5-8 cigarettes per cartridge refill. The rest of the team tended to agree with me, and one guy even found that he was using a new cartridge every hour or so because the flavors kept dying too quickly.

Speaking of flavors, they aren’t great. Very lackluster and almost as if they didn’t put quite enough of the flavoring in. The soft tip cartridge ends make for a smooth and comfortable smoke but honestly, it wasn’t great….

Throat Hit & Vapor

The cartridges were bad all round really. The flavors died too quickly and weren’t that great to start with, the vapor produced was pretty poor compared to other brands that actually work out cheaper to buy, and the throat hit was hardly there at all. They are only 16mg cartridges which is pathetic when you compare that most brands offer 24mg as their highest and some brands, such as White Cloud Electronic Cigarettes offer as high as 36mg!

It doesn’t appear that this SmokeTip review is going very well, does it…?

Any Redeeming Features…

Aside from the 100% FREE SHIPPING, I can’t really have a lot of positive things to say about SmokeTip. There are gift certificates available should you want to surprise a friend or loved one with a quitting smoking starter pack, but aside from that, there wasn’t a lot to shout about. It says there is a “Lifetime Warranty” but this is only when you make more purchases, although the 24/7 phone support does come in handy. You’ll be complaining a lot… We were. A couple of our batteries didn’t work at all when they turned up, and another one conked out after just a week of non-regular usage. It wasn’t a great start.

In Conclusion…

SmokeTip didn’t have a lot of things that we felt we could boast about and as a smoking experience, it wasn’t a great one. The vapor wasn’t enough. The throat hit was barely there at all. The flavors weren’t exactly anything to boast home about either. The price was too high, the selection too limited, and all in all, it’s brand that doesn’t have much to offer you if you’re looking for a regular, reliable vaping experience.

Bearing everything in mind, we could only rate SmokeTip with just 1/5 stars. Pretty pathetic really.
