V2 Cigs

There was something about V2 Cigs that desperately made us want to review the company that creates some of the best looking electronic cigarette paraphernalia that we have seen. We had read the other e-cig reviews and seen the high star ratings they were getting so we decided it was time to give them a shot.

We are impressed by silly things like packaging but then again, aren’t all consumers? We loved the packaging that came with our V2 Cigs kit. We ordered the V2 Ultimate Kit which currently retails for $149.95 and were very impressed by what we got.

In a large, sturdy, durable box, we found our goodies nicely placed in foam inserts:

  • 3 V2 batteries – 2 standard length batteries, one automatic and one manual PLUS a long manual battery.
  • 25 cartridges – 5 different flavor packs with 5 cartridges in each.
  • V2 Cigs Ultimate Kit1 USB charger
  • 1 Mains charger
  • 1 Car charger
  • 1 Charging Case
  • 1 USB E-Cig
  • 1 heavy duty carry case
  • 1 lanyard
  • 1 instruction manual

There are other starter kits available:

Beginner’s Kit at $34.95 – one battery, five cartridges and one USB charger.

V2 Standard Kit at $59.95 – two batteries (one manual, one automatic, both standard length) plus a USB charger, mains charger and five cartridges.

V2 Standard Plus Kit at $99.95 – two batteries (one manual, one automatic, both standard length) plus five cartridges, one USB charger, one mains charger and a portable charging carry case.

V2 Couples Kit at $114.95 – two lots of the V2 Standard Kit (see above) in a gift set for him and her. That’s not a bad idea for an anniversary present for a couple looking to quit smoking!

V2 Ultimate Kit at $149.95 – that’s the one we mentioned above; the one that we ordered. It was on a great special offer deal so it would have been rude not to take it. The deal is still ongoing… just in case you are interested!

V2 Power-Cig at $24.95 – this comes with the V2 Ultimate Kit and is well worth looking at if you spend a lot of time on the computer. You get a set of five cartridges and one USB wired e-cigarette.

When you look at some of the other brands, the V2 Cigs prices aren’t all that bad, especially the V2 Ultimate Kit which is guaranteed to give you pretty much all you need to make the switch. We shall compare the starter kits to other brands to give you an idea of what we are talking about:

Green Smoke Ultimate Kit at $129.97 – you get the same three batteries – one long, one short, one of your choice, but they are all automatic; there is no manual option. They do give you a USB e-cigarette however. They also offer a carry case but no charging case, 10 cartridges (15 less than V2 Cigs), a mains charger, a car charger and TWO USB chargers. So you will basically pay $ 13.99 less, get 15 less cartridges, no carry case, no lanyard, no manual option on the battery and the bonus of an extra USB charger, which is good if you were to need one for work.

When it comes to value for money, especially in the biggest starter kit that you can get your hands on with V2 Cigs, the brand seems to have hit the nail on the head.

V2 Cigs give you more options than most when it comes to battery length. Not only do you have manual and automatic options for the battery itself, you can pick from a variety of lengths too.

BatteriesEX Series – up to 300 puffs, 135mm long, 280mAh

Long Cig – 300+ puffs, 140mm long, 380mAh

Standard Cig – 200+ puffs, 110mm long, 250mAh

Shorty Cig – 160+puffs, 100mm long, 150mAh

When we used V2 Cigs, we found that the Long Cig gave us all day usage, from around 8am when we got up, throughout the working day, a few puffs here and there when we managed to sneak into the back office, all the way through lunch, in the car on the journey home, watching TV and eating dinner that night and right up until we put it on charge before we went to bed. It still hadn’t run out at this point, so who knows how much longer it could have lasted, but the vapor and throat hit were starting to die off a little and we assume this is because the battery was starting to die.

The website states that the longest cig takes around 4 hours to charge, to give you some idea of how long the rest will take, and in some cases we found that it took longer than that. Generally, charging through a mains charger will be quicker than through the USB port of your laptop and computer, and we would imagine the 4 hours charging time was for when the gadget was plugged into the mains.

If you were to buy replacement or additional batteries, you will find that V2 Cigs prices aren’t bad:

V2 Shorty Cig – $14.95

V2 Standard Cig – $19.95

V2 Long Cig – $22.95

EX Series – $29.95

You also have various color options – white, black, silver or blue. Some of the girls in our team would have quite liked the dusky pink color that Green Smoke offers…. Just in case anyone is reading from V2 Cigs! On the other hand, V2 company has a separate brand aimed for girls only – Vapor Couture, so, maybe want to leave the colors of V2 Cigs discreet.

Although we loved the durability, quality and length of time that the V2 Cigs batteries lasted us, we weren’t all that impressed with the Long Cig when we were using it. It’s quite heavy and a lot longer than we are used to when it comes to e-cigs and we often found that we were waving it around, almost like a magic wand. It was just too long for us and it encouraged odd looks from passersby as we were using it in public places. It just wasn’t subtle enough for our liking, and the fact that we ordered it in a beautiful metallic blue color didn’t help matters with a glowing white tip.

Flavors & Cartridges

CartridgesV2 cigs offers their cartridges in the following flavors:

  • V2 Red
  • Sahara
  • Congress
  • Menthol
  • Peppermint
  • Mint Tea
  • Cherry
  • Chocolate
  • Coffee
  • Vanilla

You will also find them in the following strengths:

  • 2.4% – High
  • 1.8% – Medium
  • 1.2% – Low
  • 0.6% – Very Low
  • 0% – Zero Nicotine

In our experience, the flavors of the V2 Cigs cartridges were impressive, but only for a short period of time. After about an hour or two of using the new cartridge, the flavor seemed to die and although the cartridges were lasting us for almost a full day each, the flavors weren’t so we were getting bored and refilling or replacing them with a different cartridge.

The cartridges are easily refilled and from what we can make out, it wouldn’t void the warranty to refill them as the brand is one of very few that actually offers e-liquid as well. A hair grip or fork easily pops the top off, around 8-10 drops of e-liquid will refill the cartridge, and once you give it a moment to settle down before using it again, you shouldn’t find too much of the rather gross tasting liquid leaking into your mouth.

This is important – we cannot stress exactly how important it is to have a look at the warranty offered by the e-cigarette brand you are going to buy from.

V2 Cigs offer a Lifetime Warranty. By a Lifetime Warranty, they seem to mean a limit of five replacements maximum. 5 replacements is hardly a lifetime. You will find that you will need to replace your battery at least once in the first six months or so of smoking e-cigs. You’ll need to learn how to use it, how to puff properly and on top of this, you’ll be using it more often.

Your warranty will be voided if you tamper with the items – use it in any other way than stated in the instruction manual.

Your warranty is also void if you have gone more than 90 days without making an order – “The V2 Warranty can only be used within 90 days of your last Cartridge or E-Liquid purchase.”

Added Extras

E-Liquid – The good thing about V2 Cigs, and possibly the thing that we love the most, is that you can get your hands on e-liquid, right from the brand’s website. This means that you can save money on shipping by ordering everything from one website at the same time, rather than ordering things from lots of different places – a battery from V2 Cigs, blank cartridges from V2 Cigs (which they also sell), e-liquid from Vapouriz…

The larger 50ml bottle of e-liquid (available in all the flavors that we listed above) will set you back around $30. We were used to paying around $15-20 for a 30ml bottle so this price is actually pretty good. You will also find that they are available in the four same strengths as the cartridges.

Smoke4Free program – When you refer people to V2 Cigs, they give you bonuses back to say thanks. You will get credits that you can spend in store to basically get free stuff, and on top of that, the people that you refer will purchase the V2 Cigs stuff at a discounted price. They get 15% off and for everyone that signs up and buys under your referral code; you will get a $15 voucher to spend on the V2 Cigs website. This is basically enough to get a free packet of cartridges!

In Conclusion

After trying our hands at the V2 Cigs electronic cigarettes, we feel that we can now give it a fair review. We loved a lot of things about this brand – we loved the fact that it was so good looking, sleek, unique, colorful and smart. The packaging was great and we were genuinely excited to use the product once it turned up at our front door.

The prices are great – they work out a lot cheaper than other brands, especially when you take a look at how much you actually get in these kits compared to other starter kits. The loyalty/referral scheme and the offers they regularly send out via email can help to save even money further, which means that this could be one of the best e-cigs to try if you are after value for money.

Despite all the positives, there were a few things that we felt let the side down.

The amount of vapor that was produced when we smoked V2 cigs just wasn’t enough. Definitely not in the same league as Green Smoke, anyway. On top of that, the flavor in the cartridges died within a few hours which wasn’t a good sign for us. The longer battery was definitely worth it if you have a tendency to always pull one out the charger even when it hasn’t finished charging because the previous one had already ran out, but felt like a magic wand when we were smoking it – too top heavy and ridiculous looking to use in public. If you don’t want to draw attention to yourself, this is the wrong e-cig to go for.

So, after all of that, we felt that it was only fair that we gave V2 Cigs a pretty impressive 4 stars out of 5. A beautiful product, that’s for sure, but not enough bang for our buck.

Great product…not so great company and service. We ordered the v2 products at HT Hackneys April Food show held in Sevierville Tennessee from a distributor there. HT Hackney didn’t have a record of the company even being at the food show and after three calls into the V2 company via the web site can not get anyone to return our calls or give us information regarding wholesale through our distributor. Too bad…

After trying at least 5 different electronic cigarettes, Mike and I finally chose v2s for the best overall value and satisfaction in an e-cigarette. The flavors are pretty good, they’re not as harsh as some of the other e-cigs, there’s a decent amount of vapor, especially with the push-button batteries, and the price isn’t bad at all, really. Considering what we pay for regular ciggs in Connecticut, I’d say we’re getting a bargain with v2s!

We were very lucky to have won a kit from v2 / Vapor Couture in response to an essay I wrote on how much it means to us as a couple to quit smoking and start living healthy. I might not have found out what a great little product they’ve got here. I admit I did like EverSmokes quite a bit having been a Camel smoker – they got the flavor down pretty good, but they were too harsh and a little pricey. I found out that all e-ciggs are probably going to irritate my throat because of a chemical in them – I think it’s ?? propylene glycol??, but don’t quote me on that. There may be an alternative that doesn’t contain this chemical. A more natural product might be the answer for me and others with this sensitivity.

Mike really likes the vanilla flavored ones. V2 Please, please, please make the vanilla cartridges in a 2.4 mg nicotine strength, won’t you? I like the Cowboy, reds for filters, oddly enough. Thought I was going to like the Saharas best but that wasn’t the case. We do appreciate the variety in flavors and hope you’ll try out a few more. How about bubble gum? Or some kind of fruit flavor?

The only drawbacks I have encountered with these: the cartridges do not really last as long as they claim, especially when you find yourself pulling on them 2 or 3 times to get enough vapor for one hit. Second, the cartridges often startle you when they snap & pop when first in use. They don’t seem safe when they do that – I’m always scared one is going to blow up even though they seem well made enough for that to be unlikely. Third, when the cartridges are almost spent they really burn your throat. So even if there’s some left to it, you can’t comfortably use it.

Good points: They came out with a 2.4 mg nicotine strength so my next order should help me to smoke a lot less of the tobacco ciggs when I’m not feeling really satisfied. (I am trying to overcome a pretty heavy smoking habit). Thank you, thank you, thank you, v2! Also, THE BATTERIES CHARGE UP REALLY FAST – THAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT V2S! I never have to wait very long for a fresh battery. The tip light blinks a few times if you need a charge – excellent feature … Finally, I have never had any problems with customer service, my orders, no significant problems with the product itself – nothing that would be a deal-breaker, anyhow.

I truly believe in this company’s products and I do recommend them to friends and family who are fellow smokers. And even to my doctor who is bound and determined to get all his smoking patients to quit. Now, to my surprise, my doctor recommends e-cigarettes as the most promising product for smokers who want to quit – with the hope that there will soon be scientific studies to evaluate this method of smoking cessation. Hurray for v2 and Vapor Couture (with their really great tasting and fashionable e-ciggs for ladies)! Keep up the good work! Thank you, so much! Now we smokers can have our cake and eat it too! And on a more somber note, we have much better hope for a healthy and more enjoyable future.

Researched a lot about the V2, read other’s comments about V2 so i bit the bullet & ordered them ’cause i wanted to quit smoking reg cigs ’cause of the smell, the flavor & my sinuses hated them + i know they’re bad for my health. Long story short love ’em! Got the starter kit & I’m ordering more. A+++++++++++++

If you still have a desire to smoke cigarettes after trying a ecig then you need more nic or a better ecig. I have been useing ecigs only for the past 5 years and I was a 40 year,2 carton a week smoker of Pall Mall non filter. Not sure what v2 uses for their juice mixes but they come in various mixtures. PG gives you more throat hit while VG gives you more vapor. A good mix is 60% PG/40% VG.

Do not buy V2 Cigs – Unethical company

I recently bought V2 cigs for my mother, who lives in Canada. The company took my money and sent the e-cigs. The e-cigs were subsequently sent back to them by customs, because it is illegal for them to ship to Canada.

The company did not bother to refund me until I complained. When they did finally refund the money, they only gave me back ~$70 US, instead of the original $121 that I paid. They claimed it was my fault for having them shipped to Canada, even though they are the ones who shipped it in the first place.

This company is nothing short of fraudulent.

This company sucks, They have no customer service and do not ship your orders on any timely basis.
Have had an order awaiting fulfillment for two weeks now with no response from them after several inquiries. Something went down hill very fast and I will now be forced to get my credit card company involved now with a fraud complaint. Be warned.

Got my new Cartridges 2,4% Red, always loved the taste and the strangeness. The taste changed now and is much lighter and the Cartridges have less fluid inside. Nothing changed on my smoking behavier and I need now double cartridges per day. Tried in December 2014 the EX series cartridges, fond it to light too and to quickly empty. Checked with my Dutch and German friends, they use V2cigs, they have the same feeling. If is going on this way we will change the brand. Can have a lot of reason why this kind of things happens: V2cigs are going for much more profit, bad quality controls in china or have something to do with the european commission to get a approve for E-cigarettes. Whatever is the reason V2cigs will lose a lot of clients if it going on this way.

I love the product but the shipping SUCKS…I have been waiting for an order I had placed on Dec 1 and now its Jan 9 and the back order items are just not shipping out after I had to call them asking where my order was. I was told that the back order items just had come back in stock and that they were going to ship it out asap and that was on Jan the 6. I just got an email saying today its shipped and guess what they are sending the wrong items!!! I place an order on the 7th because I was running low on what I had left and guess what that order shipped before the back order and its the same items they said was back ordered. I am super pissed at V2 and the customer service. I work in customer service and I would never pull this crap with a customer that had been with us as long as I have been using V2. Ready to find a new ecig brand!!!

Ashley, The same thing happened to me. V2 has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I eventually had to return all of my equipment to them because they would not respond to any of my attempts to purchase additional cartridges for my V2 pro. I spend almost three weeks (multiple e-mails, live chat and phone calls every day) just trying to reach their customer service department. When I finally got a rep on the phone, they told me that my address did not match the address they had on file so have a nice day. It was the same address that I used to place the original order online and the location that the order arrived at. The order that I returned, which was within the 30 day money back guarantee window, was received by V2 on the 20th of January according to the USPS tracking number. I have yet to receive a response.

I have to agree with those who say V2 has terrible customer service and that the cartridges are either defective or have less fluid than advertised. I received a starter kit as a gift so placed an order for 40 cartridges. The batteries and cartridges received in my gift kit were fine so I placed an order online for 40 cartridges…10 each of 4 different flavors. It took almost 3 weeks to get a partial order and a good 1/3 of those cartridges delivered no vapor at all. The remainder delivered no where near the number of puffs promised. I called several times to discuss my backorder and the defective cartridges and was kept on hold so long I had to hang up and try again later. Finally tried the live chat and was again left for several minutes between responses. I was told that I was at fault for the poor performance of the cartridges because I hadn’t refrigerated them and that was the reason the cartridges had failed. I received no instructions with the starter kit or the partial shipment that the cartridges were supposed to be kept in the refrigerator. The live chat rep told me that it was “advertised” on the website so I asked her where because I hadn’t seen it. She responded that it was in the FAQ!! That is “advertising” the need to refrigerate?? I checked the FAQ and in no way is refrigeration stressed. It said something to the effect that “some people prefer or like to….” The live chat rep was rude but finally agreed to send me l0 “courtesy” cartridges. As far as the backorder was concerned, they were out of one of the flavors I’d originally ordered but never offered me the opportunity to change it to one that was in stock. I suggested that to the live chat rep and she said OK…I received the new flavor in about 4 days, mailed and delivered by the USPS instead of FedEx which took almost 3 weeks. I’m very dissatisfied with customer service. If you get a good cartridge the flavor runs out long before the cartridge is used up.

I have been purchasing products from V2 for only a few weeks now but I can tell you that I am not pleased. I have received 1/2 EX batteries that was defective with no air holes drilled beneath the threads. Took them forever to get a replacement shipped so I drilled my own holes. Two packs or carts come with my starter kit. 2 of the 5 in EACH pack leaked and or tasted like burnt metal from the very first puff. I sent in a complaint and the dispatched a free pack of cart in a different flavor and strength (over two weeks later) and this pack had the same problem. 2 of the 5 were unusable due to the burning metal taste. They were also covered in this black and gray metallic dust with makes me very concerned. I have also ordered their EX blanks. They come in packs of three. Two of them worked fine and the third worked but I had to continuously lift the center pole of each battery just slightly so that it could make contact with the battery. I just this past Monday ordered a second set of EX blanks. I place the order pretty early Monday morning and the package has still not left their facility. They have printed the shipping label from their fedex account. Why does it take 4 days to ship any package. Let alone something less than 1 pound. I have been very communicative with them since this began and will continue to do so. Honestly, not sure this is worth the effort just to ensure I get my money’s worth.

Thus far in my dealings with them similar products have been faulty 30%-50% of the time. 100% of my orders have contained faulty or poorly manufactured products.

I agree there is a lack of customer service. I ordered on a wednesday. Received only one email after the confirmation email stating my order was “awaiting shipment” (whatever that meant). with No other email notices about my order, on Monday i emailed customer service requesting update.
Tuesday, package arrived. I didn’t receive a response from customer service until late Thursday letting me know that their system shows the package was delivered. (duh)
I did notice that in my package was a disposable e-cig and a 5 pack of zero nicotine cartridges that i did not order. I took that as A) a consolation prize for the lack of customer service or B) whoever packed it, messed up lol.
The disposable e-cig says it has 400 puffs. A cartridge usually lasts me 3-4 days. I am not a heavy smoker but disposable only lasted a day, right out of the sealed package. Had i actually ordered and paid for it, I would have been really upset. if i dont go back to smoking real cigarettes, i might have to look into another brand

I’ve been ordering from V2 for about a year and usually receive my order within a matter of days. My last order was placed a month ago, the money taken out of my account and I’ve got nothing. Despite several emails to customer service, I’ve received only one reply – that the 1.8% menthol was not currently available and would ship when it was available. But a month!?! And they’ve already charged me, including “expedited shipping”? I’m about to become an ex-customer.

I have been a loyal V2 customer since 2013 and back when I started using their products, their customer service was outstanding and calls were answered in less than a few minutes. Their e-liquids were good, the e-cigs were good and their power cig was good – all of which I have. I use the refillable clear cartridge as I like to mix my liquids. In 2014 I noticed a change in the cartridges – they would either start burning & the liquid tasted burned (not to mention the cartridges getting too hot to touch). I’ve been through quite a few batteries and never had a problem with them honoring the warranty since I’ve purchased extras. I also ordered and starting using their power cig because I could plug it in to any USB port (car, wall device, computer). I love the power cig. In October of 2014 I had my first experience of being burned by a power cig. I had ordered a new one because I wanted two power cigs – one for my car/work and one to keep in my home at my computer. The new power cig arrived and when I plugged it in and put on an e-cartridge. I thought it was strange that the actual battery was starting to get hot and when I took the first puff it sizzled and I got a mouthful of hot fluid. I quickly unplugged it, called Customer Service and told them was happened. Of course they replaced it immediately since they knew I had been burned by it. I also noticed around the same time that it was getting harder and harder to reach Customer Service by phone or live chat. Their shipping started backing up (waiting on orders for 3 or 4 weeks) and their product quality was different. In several emails to them I complained about their quality, customer service and their concern with putting new products on the market than they were with keeping their thousands of loyal customers happy. Simply put, they were more concerned with the bottom line than quality and service. I have serious issues with a company that does that. In Feb. 2015, I ordered another power cig for my boyfriend who got a driving job and loved the idea of plugging it into his lighter (usb plug) and not have to worry about charging a battery if it went dead while he was working his route. It took almost 3 weeks to get it and when it arrived I told him I would show him how to use it. I plugged it in, screwed on one of his cartridges and went to take a puff (manual button). As I pressed the button, the ecig got so hot it actually put a blister burn on my hand and once again I got a very hot mouth full of liquid. I was beyond pissed. I called the company and after waiting for over 30 minutes with no customer service rep, I went on their website and sent them a message. In their effort to placate me and not have me file a civil suit against them for the burns – they gave me another power cig, refunded my whole order total and sent me another power cig, along with a free 25ml bottle of fluid and a disposable e-cig, all in the flavor I currently smoke (menthol). So imagine my level of frustration when I plugged in the new power cig and it did the same thing the others did. By this time it is apparent to me that there is a serious manufacturing problem, or they have a whole batch of bad power cigs ( I believe they are made in China, not sure). In addition, to top it off – the free disposable they sent me – didn’t work at all. I just got this order yesterday, so as of today, 03/07/2015 – I have rattled off another not so nice email and advised that I have pictures and video of witnesses who can feel the power cig heating up so much you can’t hold it. I am at the point that I’d like to file a civil suit against them, but I’m not sue happy. I just want a product that works. V2 has tried to grow too much too fast. Over 2 years they have introduce so many new items and displayed their “Quanity over Quality” mentality. There are a couple of websites popping up with long time V2 users complaining about everything from lousy product and TERRIBLE, IF NOT NON-EXISTENT, customer service. If I were you and you are looking for an e-cig company – click right on by the V2 site. You will be majorly disappointed in the sub-par products (they just changed their clear cartridges for the 3rd time since I’ve been a customer). As others have stated above – this new power cig is the straw that has broken this camel’s back. No more V2 for me – I’ll find a company out there that cares and has quality product.

Same story here, We have been V2 customers since October 2011. It was our first experience with ecigs and it was wonderful. Six months later we both were able to wean ourselves off of cigarettes entirely. We each found our favorite flavors of ejuice there along with the right equipment that satisfied our needs. The first two years was a great relationship. Fast order turnaround, everything we ordered seemed to be in stock all the time and we received it within days. If we had a battery, charger or even cartridges fail on us they were immediately replaced. No issue with contacting customer service either. I am afraid though that with the growth of their company and their customer base they have lost the ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner. After receiving an email from V2 in April reminding me that we are probably due for a reorder of ejuices, we ordered a supply of menthol and Red ejuice on April 24th of this year and was expecting it within 10 days. After three weeks I checked their site in order to track it. I noticed that it was still in “awaiting fulfillment” status. After inquiring what the problem might be via a message, two days later they replied with the reason being the Red was on back order. This is about the fourth time in the last year that their ejuice was not in stock. These two flavors are normal, everyday popular flavors! They should have a huge inventory on hand of these flavors. Their message also stated that it should be back in stock within 5 to 7 businesses days. A day after their reply the status of our order changed to “Awaiting Shipping”. Yeah, right! Went back online today and saw the status was changed to shipped but had no tracking number assigned. I think they changed the status just to blame the shipper now if there is anymore of a delay. So we have no idea when and if we will receive our order. Looks like we’ll be hunting for a new supplier. Maybe even locally, stores are popping up all over the place. I myself, have found a new system that totally blows V2 systems out of the water. I just hope we can now find some juices that can compare with what we found at V2.
