V2 Cigs Ex Series

V2 Cigs did pretty well when we reviewed them the last time and that’s why we were eager to get our hands on one of the newest lines the brand has to offer in the shape of the V2 Cigs EX Series. Maybe it’s the great packaging? Perhaps it’s the great value for money? Maybe it’s the stylish design? Let’s find out more in the V2 EX Series review…

So… We’ve been here before, haven’t we? The original V2 Cigs starter kit was rated pretty highly when we used it the last time, even as far as bagging itself 4 stars out of 5! Cheaper than other brands, good throat hit, great referral and loyalty schemes… Let’s see if we were just as happy with the EX Series that V2 Cigs has rolled out!

V2 Standard Kit – EX Series

Red V2 Ex SeriesAt $59.95, you’re going to want to make sure this is the kit you want before you shell out for it. It’s $20 more than the original V2 Cigs Starter Kit but there’s a reason for this. There always is!

You get yourself two of the new V2 EX batteries as well as 10 new V2 EX cartridge refills. Add a USB charger, a wall charger, and a user’s manual in a nice little box and you’ve got all you need to get started. You can get cheaper starter kits elsewhere, but they won’t have the technology that the V2 EX series has to offer…

There is another kit on offer – the V2 Standard E-Liquid Kit EX Series gives you two V2 EX batteries on top of what you get with the V2 Standard E-Liquid Kit for $72.95.

The V2 Cigs EX batteries are only available in automatic varieties, which is fairly annoying, and they measure in at 10cm long. You get to pick your color so if you’re all about appearances, you have the option of Brushed Steel, Matte Black, Opal, Blue Pearl and Rose Gold.

If you want to buy a new battery, you’ll be looking at shelling out just under $25 which does seem to be a lot of money, but these batteries have some serious staying power, and some added features to boot.

For a start, they have the added bonus of little lights along the end of the tip of the battery (towards the glowing end) which indicate how much power is left in the battery. This is a great idea – a lot of people go for the tank-style e-cigarettes such as South Beach Smoke Storm because it has the LCD screen on the side which tells you how much battery there is left. This EX battery allows you to have the power of knowing when it is going to go out without needing the bulky shape and design that often associates with the personal vaporizers.

The battery for the EX series is just 10mm shorter than the longest V2 original “Long” battery at 11cm, but it gives you 300+ puffs out of the 280mah capacity. Most two-pieces have just 180mah batteries so this one already stands out above the rest, and I found that this thing would give me about 10 cigarettes worth – it lasts about half the day when I use it in a ‘regular fashion’.

Flavors & Cartridges

It would appear that the cartridges have been upgraded somewhat since the last time we reviewed this brand, and the V2 EX cartridges now have the added benefit of a little window on the side so that you can see exactly how much liquid is left in the tank itself. Again, they are giving you the benefits of the bigger, tank-style designs, but still maintaining the long, thin appearance that the two-pieces offer. It’s a very smart strategy that they have taken on and so far, it seems to be working.

It’s $11.95 for a pack of five cartridges, but you can also buy blank cartomizers if you fancy refilling them with your own liquid…. Or some of their e-liquid! That’s right – V2 Cigs also seek e-liquid too!

For those of you, that really do want the best of both worlds, you can also get blank miniature tanks… Basically, they are copying the tank-style e-cigarettes but on a much smaller scale. Again – it’s a strategy that seems to be working. Most of the team are obsessed with the new V2 Cigs ranges!

In the cartridges you’ll find 12 different flavors:

  • V2 Red
  • Sahara
  • Congress
  • Menthol
  • Peppermint
  • Green Tea Menthol
  • Grape
  • Cherry
  • Chocolate
  • Coffee
  • Vanilla
  • V2 Cola

You’ll also find them in five different strengths:

  • 2.4% (24mg)
  • 1.8% (18mg)
  • 1.2% (12mg)
  • 0.6% (6mg)
  • 0% (0mg)

One of the things that I really liked about V2 Cigs is that they have a brand dedicated to describing the various flavors they have on offer. I have spent too long on the various e-cigarette and e-liquid websites trying to decipher what all those bonkers names meant. With V2 Cigs, they are easy to understand and if you’re still not sure which one you should go for, the descriptions they give will enable you to have a much better idea.

The flavors in the cartridges weren’t bad, and you’ll find that a full cartridge will last for just short of a day with regular use. In fact, these EX cartridges were among some of the best for lasting-power that I’ve ever tried. Most of the team agreed with me too. Whether they were filled by us, or pre-filled, they lasted much longer than many of the other brands that we’d tried. All in all, I’d say that they were fairly impressive.

The e-liquids they do are on a much grander scale so there are a few more options. The dripper-tip bottles are perfect for refilling both cartridges and the miniature tanks with the slanted design, and they also help to eliminate leakages and spillages. At just under $30 for a massive 50ml bottle, the prices aren’t bad either. You’ll generally look at paying anywhere between $6-10 for a 10ml bottle, so for one of this size, you can’t really complain too much about the price.

Every now and again, V2 Cigs offer special and limited edition flavors in their cartridges and e-liquids, so it’s well worth keeping an eye out for those on the website!

Throat Hit & Vapor

The pre-filled cartridges gave off a decent amount of vapor but when I filled the cartridges myself, I found that they gave even more. The throat hit for both was equally as impressive and I’d say that these really do give you a great smoking experience.

The mini-tanks were the icing on the cake for me. I really do love the personal vaporizer styles of electronic cigs, but keeping the smaller design made things a lot easier, not only to prevent breaking the e-cigs but also to keep them discreet when you are out and about in public. Most of the office agreed that the tanks gave a much better production of vapor, and the throat hit was more realistic too. We’d definitely recommend giving these a shot!

In Conclusion…

At the end of it all, with the exception of not having a manually operated battery, there wasn’t much about V2 Cigs EX Series that I could grumble about. In fact, there was very little that most of the team could moan about, although the lack of a button was definitely one of the talking points. The little lights really do give you a handy heads up when your battery is on the way out, and the small windows on the cartridges combined with the mini-tanks really give you the impression that V2 Cigs is out to be the best…. In this case, I’d say they were!

We’d rate V2 Cigs Ex Series with a MASSIVELY IMPRESSIVE 4.5 stars out of 5!

Pretty much the perfect e-cigarette…. Slash personal vaporizer!

Used to be heavy smoker and ex series was the one what helped me to quit. I really like the ecig design. Very simple and modern. Lovely selection of flavors and good vapor. Now i am smoke free for more than a year and actually very passive user of my ecig. If i use it it is just when having drink with friends and it happens probably twice a month. I am grateful that Vapour2 made me to quit. Good feeling with health benefits:-)

Vapour 2 ex is great product. Have got it from my boyfriend for my birthday and i really like it. First at all i thought i will not be able to manage the usage. But was wrong, i think it is the easiest i have ever had. I have got also manual and automatic batteries but mostly prefer automatic, because i do not have to press the button when i puff. And the ecig looks very cool-reminds real cigarette.

I had been using the standard auto battery for about a year when I switched to EX. Really happy about my purchase. I think my favorite thing about these batteries is the charge indicator and after that would be the battery life. I have 2 and I usually get aabout 12 hours of use between both of them before I need to charge them. I use the EX Blanks so I can’t fit the sleeve over them but I bet the sleeve looks really good if you can use it.

V2 EX now offers this battery with the push-button-manual style, and it (mostly) rocks! I am experiencing the same issue Sarah described with the battery-indicator lights moving at lightening speed from three lights down to one (dead). Additionally, one of the two batteries in my one-month-old starter kit lasts about half as long as the other. Resetting the battery by holding down the power button for 8-10 seconds while the battery is in the ON position doesn’t seem to help. I was very disappointed with V2’s customer service when I asked about this, I was offered 100 points, essentially a $10 discount, toward the purchase of a new battery. To be fair, there is more to the story, and this is not the forum for that issue. I really like the sleek design of the EX; it’s elegant and lends itself to discretion. E-liquid? I’m absolutely loving Vaporfi liquids in my EX setup. Their liquids have a vastly superior taste, are less expensive per ml, can be purchased in a greater variety of nicotine levels, you can choose the VG/PG ratio, AND they’re happy to combine up to three different flavors in one bottle.

I have been using the V2 EX batters for about 2 months now, with the EX blank cartridges and vanilla e-liquid (V2 brand). I have found that over time the batteries do not work as well as they did. In the beginning, the drag was perfect in this combination. The e-liquid has a much better taste than most, but it only took a day until it started to taste a bit burnt and plastic-like. It did not improve when the cartridge was changed. Also, it always indicates 3 more lights on the battery, but seems to run down to 0 very quickly after that (i.e. there is no transition to 2 and then 1 light). Has anyone else experienced this? Also, the V2 e-liquid seems to be used up much more quickly than any of the other brands I have tried in the shops in the Netherlands. That’s always quite a disappointment, but it’s difficult to decide whether to change, because the flavour is good from V2.

I am a novice. What I am looking for is a regular sized e-cigarette that tastes like a real cigarette. Recommendations, please.

I have been vaping around a year now – eventually settled for South Beach ecig – its good and compares well with green smoke imo. But when V2 bought out the new tech on the ex-cart with eliquid only – thought I got to give it a go – the big egos are just to awkward for me and leak but the idea of a eliquid-only cart really appealed – like the best of both worlds – smaller e cig form with direct e liquid. Just cant say enough about it – 2 or 3 times more vapor and a crisper taste. It is so much better than normal refills – also no burnt after taste!! Thank you V2 and this site.
